The Whole Fam Damily

Last week we went on a vacation of sorts. (I'm not convinced that family reunions actually qualify as vacations, but it was definitely fun!) It was a whirlwind trip for us and I'm not sure we'll cram that much driving into one long weekend again, but it was so fun to see all of my siblings and spend time in Idaho with aunts, uncles and cousins.

On our way back from Idaho we rendezvoused in Provo for an afternoon since my younger brother was just getting into town. Someone didn't really do her hair and is kicking herself for not putting a little more effort into her appearance, but with swollen ankles and 3 fairly sleepless nights in a row - that someone just didn't care at the time. Regardless, I'm glad we got a few snapshots in of the Anderson family. It may be another 2-3 years before we're all together again.

We spent a few hours in my aunt and uncles backyard which backs up to the Provo River. They are such fun hosts and have a zillion toys, indoors and and out, to entertain the kids. My kids cried when it was time to leave.

On Friday we met up with my mom's family in Idaho for a reunion of sorts. We had to scratch our traditional plans at Bear Lake due to high water levels and because my grandmother has been ill. Boating in the Ririe Reservoir was still a great time. I was brave/stupid enough to go on the final boat ride of the day, thinking it would be a mellow ride since most of the passengers were young. Not my best decision. I just really wanted a turn out on the lake!

Brooke and Ty went with Aunt Rachelle on their first boat ride of the day. Both of them were brave enough to ride the tube. Ty did get bounced off at one point (hmm...ask his dad how that happened) and he still thought it was pretty great.

After a fun day in the sun we had a pig roast at Uncle Mark's house. Then we celebrated my Grandpa's 85th birthday, made smores, ate popcorn and watched a bootlegged copy of Cars 2 in the backyard. My favorite part was listening to stories and reminiscing with cousins, aunts, and uncles. I love my Landon and Anderson family so much and spending time with them was worth all the time we spent traveling for such a short weekend! (Props to my husband who did ALL the driving and took great care of a 7 month pregnant woman and 2 children during the entire adventure.)
